Overview

The Civil Aviation Flight University of China (CAFUC) has established extensive exchange and cooperative relationships with international and regional civil aviation organizations, including the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA). We maintain close ties with civil aviation authorities and aviation academies in the United States, France, the United Kingdom, and other regions, as well as with renowned aviation manufacturers such as Boeing, Airbus, General Electric (GE), and International Aero Engines (IAE).

Notably, CAFUC is the first full-time university in Asia selected for the ICAO "Next Generation of Aviation Professionals" (NGAP) Programme and is a full member of the ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS Programme.

Leveraging our unique strengths, the University actively responds to the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and integrates into the construction of the "Air Silk Road." Relying on platforms such as the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation and the CAAC's BRI framework, we strengthen university-enterprise cooperation to support the "Going Global" strategy for domestic aircraft and major national overseas infrastructure projects. We are committed to vigorously developing international education, training, and degree programs for international students.

Since beginning international student training in 1961, and more recently through initiatives like the "Lancang-Mekong Civil Aviation Talent Program," the University has trained nearly 1,000 civil aviation professionals—including pilots, maintenance engineers, air traffic controllers, airport managers, and cabin crew—as well as government officials for partner nations. These efforts provide crucial talent and intellectual support for their civil aviation development. Concurrently, we maintain extensive cooperation with universities and educational training institutions in relevant countries and regions.

Degree Programs

In our degree education sector, we are implementing the "Study at CAFUC" brand strategy. In 2023, we achieved a milestone by enrolling our first cohort of degree-seeking international students. Currently, we offer four full-time undergraduate majors tailored for international students:

  • Aircraft Manufacturing Engineering

  • Transportation (Flight Dispatch)

  • Applied Meteorology (Aviation Meteorology)

  • Traffic Management (Airport Operations Management)

There are currently 116 international students on campus from 8 countries: Cambodia, Bangladesh, Mongolia, Laos, Vietnam, Uzbekistan, South Africa, and Sri Lanka. These programs are explicitly designed to meet the civil aviation talent demands of countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative.

Non-Degree Training Programs

Regarding non-degree training, during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the University has successfully completed six batches of national foreign aid training projects. Key projects include:

  • Asian Cooperation Fund "Lancang-Mekong Cooperation" Foreign Aid Training Project

  • Capacity Building for International Civil Aviation Talents in "Belt and Road" Countries

  • Airport Control and Management Training for "Belt and Road" Partner Countries

  • South Sudan Training Project

  • Laos and Cambodia Pilot Training Project

  • Lancang-Mekong Civil Aviation Law Enforcement Capacity Building Project

  • Côte d'Ivoire Ab Initio Flight Crew Training Project

Through these initiatives, we have trained over 200 civil aviation professionals from 20 countries and regions participating in the Belt and Road Initiative. The training covers diverse specializations, including Flight Technology, Aircraft Maintenance, Air Traffic Control (ATC), Aeronautical Information Services (AIS), and Meteorology. These programs effectively facilitate the "Going Global" of Chinese civil aviation standards, systems, and philosophies, providing vital support for the civil aviation development of partner nations.
